Tree Planting at Three Bridges Oak Preserve

January 12, 2023

Now that the ground is well saturated from the recent rains, it is time to plant trees . . . and that is exactly what a few ALPS volunteers did at the Three Bridges Oak Preserve.

Trail Crew member Joe O'Donnell provided 37 oak seedlings that he has grown from acorns for the last two years.  The well established seedlings were ready to plant.

We planted 2 Live Oak, 17 Valley Oak and 18 Blue Oak seedling.  The Valley Oak seedlings were planted in the flat area south of the horse creek crossing (behind the Valley Oak trailside sign).  The Blue Oak seedlings were planted in two areas, one about 50 yards up from the lower junction on the uphill side of the trail and the other about 150 yards up from the lower junction on the uphill side of the trail from the Oak Woodland Oak Tree interpretive sign.
