Adobe Springs - workday

May 27, 2021

ALPS volunteers finished the three workday effort to control the growth of the invasive Italian Thistle at Adobe Springs.

The volunteers mowed the area close to the ground then covered it with butcher paper and four inches of wood chips.  This stops the thistle from growing and going to seed.  The paper and mulch help to amend the soil as they decompose and the earthworms love the layer where the paper meets the soil.
