Adobe Springs - removing dead debris

The Adobe Springs Nature Preserve has slowly begun to adapt to a drier climate causing some Willow trees to decline and die. The dead Willow trees have left behind an accumulation of dead wood either standing or on the ground. ALPS strives to leave the preserve in a natural state but this must be balanced with the fact that the preserve is surrounded on three sides by houses.

With the help of a California Conservation Corp (CCC) crew, much of the dead material was removed within a buffer area around the homes. The crew members had to drag the debris out and load it into a pickup. The pickup was driven down to the open area and placed in a pile.  At a later date ALPS will have a rolloff dumpster delivered and load in the dead material so it can be hauled off site.
