Workday - Carmelita Oak Tree Planting Site

February 7, 2026

Ten volunteers came out to help with some winter maintenance at the Carmelita Oak Tree Planting site located at the junction of Casanova Road and Carmelita Avenue just east of Three Bridges Oak Preserve.

The volunteers weed around each small tree, applied a nice thick layer of mulch and then reset the browse protection cage.  The mulch around the trees helps to limit the weed growth and to hold moisture in the ground around the base of the tree.  The browse cage keeps the deer from nibble away the new growth which stunts the overall growth of the tree.  In the near future this area will be a oak forest!
