Workday at Stadium Park Planting Site

January 10, 2026

We had a great workday at the oak tree planting sites in Stadium Park located between the bowl and the base of Pine Mountain and also up by the Pinal Avenue entrance.

17 volunteers came out to help perform annual maintenance on the young oak saplings.  This included removing weeds from around the small trees and then re-applying a nice thick layer of mulch.  The mulch helps to keep the weeds from growing and also keeps the soil from drying out during the hot summer months.  We also added some larger cages to some of the small trees that were out growing the small cages.  The cages provide protection from deer that love to graze on the young trees.

Thanks to all the volunteers for helping to keep these young trees growing!
