Trail Crew builds new fence by old West Mall Bridge

October 9, 2025

The Trail Crew helped construct a new fence near the old Atascadero Bridge along West Mall across from the Atascadero Unified School District offices.

The fence was necessary to protect this portion of Atascadero Creek Reservation 1A owned by ALPS.  The new 64 foot long fence will keep campers from accessing the creek bank from the old bridge out to behind the Community Center where they tend to leave behind large amounts of trash that can get into the creek and eventually into the Salinas River.

In about four hours the Trail Crew dug the post holes, intalled the metal posts and set them in concrete, connected the cross rails and installed the pickets.  Quick work for this very able and dedicated crew!

ALPS wants to thank Charles Bourbeau for his generous donation which paid for the fence materials.
