Creek Cleanup Day - 2025!

ALPS volunteers came out to help clean up trash from Atascadero Creek.  The volunteers picked up trash at two locations:

- 11 volunteers took on the trash underneath and downstream from the old Atascadero Bridge that spans the creek between West Mall and Capistrano Avenues.  This area is a favorite camp site where trash accumulates on a regurlar basis.  We removed a trailer and pickup load of trash from this area.

- 4 volunteers cleaned up the Caltrans pullout along Highway 41 and around the 2nd and 3rd bridges in the Three Bridges area.  This area get trash piling up every year from campers and people just driving by.  Two pickup loads of trash were removed from this area.

It is critical to clean up the creeks and river because the trash and debris can eventually flow down the river all the way to Monterey Bay and into the Pacific Ocean.

Many thanks to all the volunteers . . . and to the City of Atascadero, the Atascadero Mutual Water Company for sponsoring the event, and to Chicago Grade Landfill and Waste Management for providing and accepting the trash dumpsters.
