Party for the Planet at the Zoo

April 19, 2025

ALPS volunneers set up a booth at the "Party for the Planet" event at the Charles Paddock Zoo at the Atascadero Lake Park to celebrate Earth Day!  Over 450 people came to the zoo to look at animals and the 17 booths set up by local conservation minded organization.

ALPS had microscopes and magnifying glasses for the kids to look at leaves, flowers and other flora so they could see that there is a lot going on when you look "close up!"  We also had display posters set up that showcased our properties and planting sites.  And we gave away 18 oak trees seedlings to people wanting to plant trees on their property.

Besides providing shade to cool the earth, did you know one oak tree provides oxygen for 10 people while sequestering Carbon Dioxide from the air?  Plant a tree and help the planet!

It was a great opportunity to let people know more about ALPS and what we do in the local community to save open space, support our native trees, and provide education.
