ALPS is a local non-profit conservation organization committed to preserving the best remaining natural areas in Atascadero for the benefit of the community. Using grants and cash contributions, land is purchased outright. In other cases, land is acquired by the generous donations of property owners. Landowners can donate their land to ALPS and retain the right to live on it throughout their lifetime. ALPS attempts to take the free market, free enterprise approach to conservation; by obtaining title to open space or sensitive land, they preserve the property for future generations.
